Jim started out his construction career as a Junior in High School where he worked building decks and siding houses, with a couple scars to show for it. He knew early on he enjoyed the satisfaction of an active lifestyle and a career that produces tangible results as his direction. Heading to Kansas State University (GO Cats!) for a Construction Management degree made sense.
After graduating from KSU in January 1996, Jim knew his place was in and around the Rocky Mountains. As he says, “I was heading to Colorado with or without a job”. Fortunately for him, he was gainfully employed and has had the opportunity to work for two highly respected General Contractors in the region. His career has taken him from the Front Range and Western Slope of Colorado to the northern Rocky Mountains in Wyoming. Managing diverse projects from high-rise office buildings in the heart of Denver to building schools in remote locations on the Western Slope has taught him to dig in on projects early, identify the challenges and develop strategies to manage them to the end.
When he isn’t working, he is spending time with his wife Becky and two sons Ethan and Tylar. Whether it’s following the kids to their sporting events, mountain biking, camping or riding motorcycles, you will find him outdoors enjoying all that the Rocky Mountains have to offer.
Doug’s experience managing construction projects as a Project Manager and Construction Manager is diverse and wide ranging.
We are looking forward to Doug’s leadership and focus in the Construction Services Division of 38N and providing leadership for projects from design through completion.
